i present you the soul touching lyrics of the famous gazal of abida, 'rang baatein karein'. this was first prescribed to me & sareen by dr. manchanda, at a party at our house. it was too cold last year, and we were trying to warm the house by listening to abiba after a couple of shots ;)

rang baatein karein, aur baaton se khushboo aaye,
dard phoolon ki tarah mahke, agar tu aaye..
bheeg jatin hain is ummeed pe aankhe har shaam,
shayad is raat, woh mehtab lab-e-ju aaye..
hum teri yaad se katara ke guzar jate, magar,
raah mein phoolon ke lab, saayon ke gesu aaye..
aajmayish ki ghari se guzar aaye to 'ziya',
jashn-e-gamdari hua, aankh mein aansoo aaye..
its been sung by abida in 2 different styles. once she sings in plain gazal style & in the other she gives it a 'kaafi' like touch by infusing other couplets, like
1. naina tum hi bure ho, tumse bura na koi,
aap hi preet ki agan lagaye, aap hi baitha roye..
2. nadii kinaare dhuan utthe, main janu kuch hoye,
jis karan main jogan bani, kahin wohi na jalta hoye..

i love this gazal but i do not understand some of the complex words like "woh mehtab lab-e-ju aaye"
